Romo Phone Home: Kovacevic: Wilson for Clement won't happen

In the spring of 1983, Pirates reliever Enrique Romo failed to report to camp. Attempts by the team to locate the enigmatic righty failed, and he was released. Similarly, for 20+ years, Pirates fans were unable to locate their once-proud franchise. This blog, last seen in September 2006, was the record of one father and son who nurtured the hope that one day Romo and the Pirates would phone home. That day arrived seven years hence, and now we are back. Enrique, we salute you, wherever you are.

Kovacevic: Wilson for Clement won't happen

Just heard Dejan on Nightly Sports Call/UPN say with certainty that there is nothing to the Craig Wilson for Matt Clement rumors. The Pirates are not shopping Wilson, he says.

Update: Hmmm, the Tribune-Review seems to disagree.

Pat said...: The Pirates might be shopping Wilson (in fact, I'm almost positive that they are), but they're insane to think they can get Clement for him. They'll be lucky to get more than Mark Redman/Josh Fogg back with the way they've devalued Craig over the years, along with his injuries last year.; 6:36 PM
Billy said...: What worries me is that this devaluation presents an opportunity for some GM who appreciates Wilson's assets to fleece us in a deal. Wilson would look real good as Trot Nixon's platoon partner for the Red Sox.; 6:03 PM
Pat said...: I agree, talking about trading Craig right now makes me nervous that someone who knows what he's actually worth will absolutely make us look stupid, kind of like a Craig Wilson for Bronson Arroyo deal would probably end up looking.; 12:09 AM
