Romo Phone Home: The Wilsons

In the spring of 1983, Pirates reliever Enrique Romo failed to report to camp. Attempts by the team to locate the enigmatic righty failed, and he was released. Similarly, for 20+ years, Pirates fans were unable to locate their once-proud franchise. This blog, last seen in September 2006, was the record of one father and son who nurtured the hope that one day Romo and the Pirates would phone home. That day arrived seven years hence, and now we are back. Enrique, we salute you, wherever you are.

The Wilsons

After a strong start this season, Jack is reverting to the offensive liability he has been for much of his career (so let's bat him leadoff).

And Craig, whose only remaining value to us, thanks to years of misuse and disrespect by the Bad Guys, was as trade bait, was just injured in a nasty-looking play at first base.

Chet Steadman said...: It was nice to see Freddy batting third yesterday, but why not put him in leadoff? Does Jack even need to be hitting at the top? He's spent most of the season hanging around the second spot, maybe it's time to move him down instead of up. Just my thoughts.; 11:55 AM

The Jack-batting-leadoff experiment didn't go well, did it? About as well as the Tike-batting-third experiment did. I suspect a software problem.; 12:52 PM
